JOB VACANCY AT HR & HSE Manager


  1. HR & HSE Manager POSITION DESCRIPTION:
  2. Our client, a mining company is looking for an experienced HR& HSE Manager.
  3. Reporting to the Project Manager, the HR & HSE Manager oversees and is responsible and accountable for the Health and Safety as well as the development, leadership, implementation, and monitoring of best practice HR policies and procedures in line with Group. This includes assisting the Project Manager in the human resource strategy to build a best in class team of people to meet the strategic goals including recruiting, development, training, performance feedback among others, while ensuring adherence to social/statutory requirements.
  4. Human Resources Function
  5. • Developing suitable and cost effective recruitment and retention strategies, including succession planning, while ensuring compliance with social policy and underpinning procedures.
  6. • Developing strong evaluation, selection and induction process to get the best from our chosen employees

  7. • Working with the Group Training Manager to ensure employee development, growth and retention.
  8. • Effectively assisting in the management of termination practices
  9. • Adhering to statutory and social policy.
  10. • Developing, maintaining suitable HR policies in line with Group objectives.
  11. • Maintaining policy enforcement.
  12. • Developing/maintaining job class and descriptions as well as working with management to train and communicate to employees
  13. • Effectively assisting in the management of termination practices
  14. • Assisting management in the negotiation of key contracts including union, benefits, employment among others. Responsible for building a quality HR team inclusive of hiring and developing the necessary competencies including consultants.
  15. • Develops pro-active performance management program for the company and enforcing compliance for the development/monitoring of staff
  16. • Ensures timing and accurate payroll
  17. • Ensures accurate tax, pension and other government requirements.
  18. • Stays abreast of key developments in HR and recommends actions items for consideration.
  19. Health and Safety
  20. • Responsible for maintaining a proactive Safety, Health and Environmental culture in accordance with group HSE policies as and standards
  21. • Conducts audits to identify safety and environmental risk and implements proactive strategy to drive improvement
  22. • Trains employees on safety and environmental practices
  23. • Ensures continuous improvement
  24. • Adhering to statutory and social policy
  25. • Develops/Maintains KPI’s to monitor and measure.
  26. Required Skills and Experiences
  27. • Strong interpersonal skills essential and superb communication, delivery of results, consultative skills, partnership skills and team building.
  28. • Computer skills - proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and payroll systems
  29. • MBA in Human Resources or Equivalent.
  30. 15 Years’ experience in Human Resource Management of which 6 years at senior management level in HSE Management
