JOB PROFILE - PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR
JOB TITLE: Production Supervisor DEPARTMENT: Production
LOCATION: Head Quarter (Arusha) REPORTS TO: Production Manager

Summary of Responsibilities:
? Lead a team of production personnel in achieving company goals for safety, quality, output and cost
Key Responsibilities:
a) Output
I. Must contribute to/understand/action production schedules and organise personnel, equipment and material in order to meet schedule requirements.
II. Must plan/prepare in detail with his/her teams all manufacturing orders in order to agree the most efficient work methods and to identify in advance any additional requirements for resources and equipment.
III. Must strive to meet all production/delivery deadlines, ensuring clear delegation and prioritising of tasks, and must react rapidly to any issues/difficulties which could result in missing deadlines.
IV. Must actively contribute to the management and control of the despatch function, ensuring that information is thoroughly communicated to the site teams and that production personnel maintain accurate records.
b) Cost
The candidate must understand and implements company plans for controlling/reducing costs, including the following:
I. Contribute to design reviews and pre-production meetings to obtain “production friendly” design information.
II. Organise resources to maximise output and productivity, utilising machinery and new technology where appropriate.
III. Actively seek to minimise wastage in the production areas, including materials, consumables and man-hours
IV. Maintain tight control over the issues and use of stores items including crates and bottles.
V. Maintain tight control on overtime/holiday working, ensuring that all such work is authorised by management
VI. Maintain time keeping/ holiday/overtime data for his/her team

c) Quality
I. The candidate must understand the quality standards expected to meet customer requirements and to simplify the task of onsite fitting. He/ she must ensure that his/her team meets the standards on all produced items.
II. He/she also must ensure that required company procedures for quality control and assurance are followed e.g. testing and inspection, documentations etc.
d) Health & Safety
I. He/ She must ensure that company safety rules, TFDA and OSHA regulations and procedures are understood and followed by his/her team and by visitors to the production areas.
II. Must ensure that risks to any employee’s health and safety are identified and appropriate actions taken to eliminate/minimise these risks.
III. Must follow company procedures for accident/incident reporting and take action to avoid re-occurrence.
IV. Must ensure that personnel within his/her team have the qualifications/ability/ confidence to safely undertake tasks given to them.
e) Other Duties:
? The Candidate will perform other duties as may be assigned by his/her supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience:
? Bachelor's degree in food science or related field and two to three years experience in a Food or Beverage Manufacturing Company.
Skills:
? Written and verbal communication skills are vital in the role of a production supervisor.
? Communication skills are necessary to direct the activities of workers, communicate company policies, train employees and prepare written reports for upper management.
? Production supervisors must be decisive and possess the ability to choose an alternative course of action when necessary.
? Supervisors also evaluate, discipline and motivate employees, which require interpersonal skills
